We’re here with our first full blog post since Lockdown ended, and we want to welcome our new readers as well as thanking all of you who supported our ad hoc delivery service! It’s a real pleasure to be back in the store and planning events for you.
Our first announcement is about our drinks service: we are now offering eleven different wines by the glass (or bottle!); three bubbly, three white, three red, a rosé, and our favourite appertif Fino Sherry. We have a keg of Pillars Brewery’s IPL session lager on tap, with a great Belgian style ale from Solvay Society coming this week.
Tea service is on too: we have a very special Gong Fu style Oolong service. This is a chance to enjoy an ancient and restorative ritual that gets the best out of our rare High Mountain Tung Ti Oolong. We also have organic Assam and Peppermint teas for a bit more of a British cuppa.
We’re serving Aeropress coffee, featuring local favourite Curved Brick Co. beginning next week. Curved Brick are planning a brand refresh, and we’ll have their whole beans available for purchase later in the month. More coffee announcements in our next newsletter!
We have organic apple juice and fizzy organic elderflower, lime, and ginger cordials, with more non-alcoholic options on the way.
All drinks are available at any time. We’ve re-opened our ‘hard play’ Little Nest Play Area, so parents can have a drink while the kids play with our custom wooden kitchen and Tegu magnetic wooden blocks!
We’re rolling out a regular games ‘café’ every Wednesday night. We have a load of games to play for free, and we’re happy to demo any of them to get you started off. With our large custom built folding game tables we can accommodate groups up to eight and six players, plus smaller tables for 1 – 4 players. Happy hour prices on pints and prosecco, and a carefully selected list of wines by the glass. Our first café happens on Wednesday September 9th from 19.30 – 23.00 (last call 22.30), and every Wednesday after that!
With the bigger kids heading back to school we’re offering a special ‘My First Games’ tea party for parents and kids between two and four years old. We’ll demonstrate some of our favourite Haba ‘First Games’, which are especially designed for pre-schoolers 2+, and it will be a great chance for parents and kids to play some games together. The event is £5 per parent/child, £2.50 for each additional child and includes tea and a juice or cordial. This event happens before the shop opens at 9.30 on Thursday September 24th. Please email email@example.com to book a spot.
We’ve had a few requests for a more formal, guided, introduction to role playing games – like Dungeons and Dragons. We’re in talks with a couple of experienced Games Masters who are interested in leading these events for a small cover charge. We anticipate hosting these events on Thursday nights soon. In the meantime, if you are interested in attending an event like this, it would be very helpful to hear from you so we can gauge the size of the game, and plan the frequency of these nights. Please drop us a line at the email above!
If you’ve been past the shop lately you’ve seen the beautiful Liliputian Leyton crafted by local artist Zekan. Zekan also makes quirky and colourful wooden puzzles under the name Lazerpie. These are mini works of art (not suitable for under 3’s), and we’re excited to be selling the collection in store. Prices from £15 – £45.
We have more great ‘made in east London’ treasures coming soon! Watch this space!
